It aims to promote all major South Asian scripts, allowing users to read resources in scripts they are comfortable with. The add-on is specifically designed for Indians, Bengalis, Pakistanis, and Nepalis.
The objective of Transliterate South Asian Scripts is to provide users with the ability to read in a script that they are proficient in, even if they are not comfortable with the script. The add-on achieves this by transliterating the text phonetically, making it easier for users to understand and read.
This extension is safe to use and only alters Unicode Text in the browser window. It supports a wide range of languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Gurmukhi, Assamese, and Urdu. However, it only offers English as the target language for transliteration.
